Singing Bowls

There are many modalities available to today's healer. Selecting the tools to help you keep your body's energy centres or chakras properly balanced and aligned is important to your overall health and wellness.

The use of sound to clear, balance and align chakras dates back to ancient times and spans many different types of tools. The following tools were developed by different cultures and provide wonderful options for healing:

  • Bells

  • Tuning forks

  • Chimes

  • Tingshas

  • Drums

  • Gongs

  • Rattles

  • Crystal singing pyramids

  • Ghanta and Dorje (heavily decorated bell metal bronze hand bell (the ghanta) and a decorated bell metal bronze sceptre

  • Didgeridoo

  • Singing bowls (made out a variety of materials including brass or glass)

Using the Singing Bowl

It can take practise to learn to use your singing bowl. Please don't get discouraged.

At the start of the you may gently strike the bowl before beginning the circular motion, but this is not required.

As you move the striker around the outer edge of the bowl it may take time for the sound to begin to build. Keep moving the striker or mallet around the outer edge until you hear a bright, clear tone. You can start to slow down when you get that nice tone. Note: By using the full arm to make the motion you will be more successful than just rotating your wrist.

If you would rather, you can use the striker/mallet in the same circular motion against the outside belly of the bowl.

Continue to move your striker/mallet around the edge of the bowl until you feel the sense of peace you desire or that alignment has been achieved.

Selecting A Singing Bowl

Each bowl has a tone that is different so please ensure you try the bowl you intend to purchase to ensure it has a tone that resonates with you.

Some people elect to purchase more than one singing bowl, with with different tones that are aligned with the various chakras to help them maintain the health of their chakras.
